4. Non-Controlling Interest Units of limited partnership interests in the Operating Partnership (“OP units”) that are owned by limited partners other than us are included in non-controlling interest on our consolidated balance sheets. The outstanding OP units held by outside limited partners represents less than 1% of our outstanding OP units and are redeemable by the limited partners for cash, or at our option, for a like number of shares of our common stock. No OP units were exchanged for shares of common stock or redeemed for cash during the years ended December 31, 2017 or 2016. The non-controlling interest holders are generally allocated their pro rata share of income, other comprehensive income and equity transactions. |
